The story behind 2026

Among the World’s TOP 100 Travel Specialists

In 2026, Aurora Travel was selected by Luxury Lifestyle Awards as one of the TOP 100 Travel Agencies & Tour Operators of the World, placing the Budapest-based company within an international group of travel specialists recognised by the awards programme.

For Aurora Travel, the significance of this recognition lies not simply in being included in a global selection, but in what distinguishes the company within it.

While many international travel agencies build their expertise across dozens or even hundreds of destinations, Aurora has followed a different path.

We chose to specialise.

Over the years, the Maldives has evolved from one of the destinations we sell into the destination around which we have built our deepest expertise, strongest resort relationships and most extensive first-hand knowledge.

That focus has become central to Aurora Travel's identity — and in 2026, it was recognised on a global stage.

About the TOP 100 Travel Agencies & Tour Operators

The TOP 100 Travel Agencies & Tour Operators of the World is an annual selection by Luxury Lifestyle Awards highlighting travel agencies and tour operators operating within the international luxury travel market.

The 2026 selection brings together companies from different countries, markets and areas of specialisation, from bespoke travel designers and destination specialists to luxury tour operators and agencies serving highly individual travel needs.

Aurora Travel was selected in the TOP 100 Travel Agencies and Tour Operators category for Hungary in 2026.

Luxury Lifestyle Awards' own profile of Aurora highlights a defining aspect of the company: rather than attempting to cover the entire world, Aurora has developed a depth of expertise around the Maldives and uses destination specialisation as the foundation of its approach to luxury travel.

That distinction is important to us.

Our ambition has never been to know a little about every destination. It is to know the Maldives exceptionally well.

Specialisation Over Generalisation

The Maldives may appear simple from the outside: beautiful islands, turquoise lagoons and luxury resorts.

In reality, choosing between Maldives resorts can be remarkably complex.

Every island has its own character.

House reef quality, lagoon conditions, beach shape, vegetation, island size, villa locations, dining concepts, transfer methods, marine life, privacy, atmosphere and service style can create completely different experiences — even between resorts positioned within a similar luxury category.

This is why Aurora's approach has increasingly centred on first-hand resort knowledge rather than catalogue-style selling.

Our team has personally visited more than 150 Maldives resorts and islands, with more than 30 visited or inspected each year.

These visits allow us to understand details that cannot always be captured by resort descriptions, photographs or star ratings.

We experience the islands ourselves.

We walk the beaches.
We inspect the villas.
We explore the house reefs.
We experience the restaurants.
We understand the distances, atmosphere and layout.

And we use that knowledge when helping our guests decide where to stay.

Luxury Is Personal

Specialisation alone is not enough.

The knowledge has to be translated into the right recommendation for each traveller.

Two guests with the same budget and travel dates may need completely different islands.

A honeymoon couple searching for privacy may value an intimate island and secluded villa. A family travelling with teenagers may need activities, space and a completely different resort environment. A snorkeller may prioritise immediate access to a strong house reef, while a guest focused on gastronomy may place restaurants, wine and dining concepts above almost everything else.

This is why Aurora does not believe that luxury travel should begin with the question:

“Which is the best resort?”

It should begin with:

“Which resort is right for you?”

Our role is to understand the difference.

From Budapest to the Maldives

Aurora Travel's inclusion among the TOP 100 Travel Agencies & Tour Operators of the World 2026 also represents an important milestone for a specialist company originating from Hungary.

What began as a Budapest travel agency has developed into a business increasingly identified with one of the world's most distinctive luxury destinations.

Today, that expertise extends beyond traditional travel planning.

Through AuroraMaldives.com, we are working to structure years of first-hand resort knowledge into a dedicated Maldives platform where travellers can discover and understand islands through the characteristics that actually shape their holiday.

Technology allows us to organise knowledge at scale.

Personal consultation allows us to understand the traveller behind the search.

First-hand experience connects the two.

A Global Recognition of a Focused Approach

Being included in a global TOP 100 is meaningful to Aurora precisely because we reached it by becoming more specialised, not less.

Luxury Lifestyle Awards' own editorial coverage of Aurora describes destination expertise as a strategic advantage and highlights the company's decision to develop deep knowledge of the Maldives rather than pursue broad geographic coverage.

That closely reflects how we see our own development.

We do not want to become the travel company that offers the most destinations.

We want to continue becoming better at the destination we know best.

The TOP 100 recognition is therefore not the destination of that journey.

It is another milestone along it.

What it means to our guests

What it means to our guests Being recognised globally matters only if that recognition translates into something valuable for our guests. For Aurora, that value begins with specialist knowledge. Choosing a Maldives resort is not simply a question of star rating or price. The island itself becomes the destination, and differences in reef quality, lagoon, beach, villa location, dining, atmosphere and transfer can fundamentally change the experience. Our role is to understand those differences first-hand and match them with the individual priorities of each traveller. Having personally experienced more than 150 Maldives resorts and islands, and continuing to visit more than 30 each year, gives our specialists a perspective that goes far beyond conventional hotel information. The TOP 100 recognition does not change the way we work. It recognises the specialist approach we have chosen to build our company around. And for our guests, that means something very simple: Your Maldives holiday is being planned by people who know the destination personally.
